It’s been an exciting 4 months since we launched Houston Makes, Interestingly enough it started off as just a class project at UH but it quickly took on it’s own life. We just recently launched our new website (houstonmakes.org) and have some big plans coming up including new events, workshops, community projects and a digital/printed manual for making/selling in Houston.
It’s become a lot of handle though and I feel like we’re wasting potential every day. We need to expand our circle of volunteers and maybe even pick up a new board member or two. If you’re interested in being a part of what Houston makes next, please drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with a little about yourself and your skills.
We at Houston Makes are excited to launch our brand spanking new website. Yes! this one! It has been a long arduous process for us due to the countless other things we are working on for this community. Like most things, the site will continue to evolve to better suite the needs of the community, and we will continue to add more features (like our very own member shop) and more content to make this a powerful tool for creatives and creators alike.
What can you expect?
We want you to become part of our online community; we have implemented a robust membership feature that will allow you to communicate with other makers and also create discussions through our forums. We want you to collaborate; the forums will be used to create an extensive wiki for makers, shops, and anyone who is looking for information or contacts to get their projects done. Houston Makes hosts a wide variety of events and we hope to expand on to workshops, lectures, and more. The site will be a vital resource to keep up with our events and happenings around our community.
We hope you will find this site useful and can help us grow our community here in Space City. And do not hesitate in contacting us to let us know how were doing or if you want to share your ideas. So, lets start making things.
